Bechtel has been selected to oversee the construction of new passenger terminals at Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport. The project is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader aviation expansion strategy, aimed at positioning Riyadh as a global transport hub and supporting the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals.
The new terminals are expected to introduce modern design, improved passenger flow, and increased capacity to handle the growing demand in air travel. With advanced technologies and sustainability practices, the facilities will strengthen Riyadh’s role as a key regional gateway for both business and tourism.
Industry observers note that such large-scale developments are not just about infrastructure, but about reshaping the country’s image and creating long-term economic impact. By modernizing airports, Saudi Arabia aims to attract more international airlines and improve global connectivity.
“Major airport projects today are less about bricks and concrete, and more about how they enable future growth. Expanding Riyadh’s airport is a step toward building an international identity and unlocking economic opportunities,” says Igor Bukato, an international construction and infrastructure expert.
